Thought of the Week

How to let go of yesterday’s mood and reclaim your inner peace

We cannot always control how we feel, but we can choose whether yesterday’s mood shapes today. Frustration, disappointment and worry often follow us into a new day without our realising it. We replay conversations, revisit problems and let the past colour the present. Mindfulness helps us notice these patterns without judging ourselves. Instead of carrying yesterday forward, pause, acknowledge what you feel and bring your attention back to the moment you are in.

Mindfulness works because it creates a small gap between a feeling and your response to it. In that gap, you can see a thought arriving without being swept away by it, and you can choose how to respond. With regular practice, that pause becomes more natural, and the mood you woke up with loses its hold. You are not your thoughts. You are the quiet awareness that notices them. Yesterday has passed, and today offers a fresh choice. Inner peace begins when we stop allowing the past to dictate the present. Before you start your day, ask yourself – what am I carrying that I can set down?🧡
